General membership FAQs
As a Desert Financial member, which of my family and friends can join?
To join Desert Financial, any of your immediate family can become a member. Friends can join Desert Financial as long as they live, work, attend school, volunteer or worship in our membership coverage area, which includes all of Arizona.
If I close my Desert Financial account, can I join again later?
Desert Financial membership lasts as long as you keep a minimum of $25 in your membership savings account. If you close your account, you may join again if you meet the current eligibility requirements.
Does Desert Financial offer foreign currency exchange?
No. Desert Financial does not offer foreign currency exchange services. We’re unable to convert U.S. dollars to foreign currency, exchange foreign currency for U.S. dollars, or order foreign currency on behalf of members.
What are my options if I need foreign currency?
If you're traveling internationally or need access to foreign currency, here are a few alternatives:
- Use your Desert Financial debit or credit card for purchases or ATM withdrawals while traveling abroad. Be sure to review your card's terms for any foreign transaction fees.
- Visit an airport currency exchange counter, or other licensed currency exchange provider that offers foreign currency services.
If you have questions about using your Desert Financial cards while traveling, we're happy to help.
